Happy Women’s History Month! This is a time to celebrate women across all fields, honor their achievements, and inspire future generations.
In 1981, the Status of Women in California created Women’s History Week to recognize women’s accomplishments. This week is typically celebrated around International Women’s Day, which falls on March 8.
The idea quickly gained national support. In 1987, Congress officially recognized the entire month of March as National Women’s History Month. Since then, it has been celebrated throughout the United States and around the globe.
Now more than ever, it’s crucial to honor women’s achievements and contributions. This year’s theme is “Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future.” This theme goes beyond just environmental sustainability; it also encompasses social justice, education, and financial equity.
National Women’s History Month is associated with a few significant colors. White symbolizes the suffragists who fought for women’s right to vote. Green represents new beginnings and is also associated with the suffragists. Purple is a color most closely linked to women’s rights as a whole.
So, what color will you choose to wear this month?
